XIANGYANG, China – As a Nissan X-Trail vehicle rolled off the production line recently in May, Dongfeng Nissan's Xiangyang plant officially achieved production of 1.6 million units.As China's best-selling SUV, the X-Trail has officially entered into production at the Xiangyang plant, thus starting the parallel production mode in Xiangyang and Zhengzhou simultaneously.Deputy managing director of Dongfeng Nissan Hao Chen said that the production of the X-Trail in Xiangyang would further enrich the product lineup of the Xiangyang base while optimizing Dongfeng Nissan's production structure layouts and alleviating the market condition of short supply of the hot-selling model.The Xiangyang facility has formulated a new midterm business plan for 2022 to consolidate the benchmarking position of the Alliance's global vehicle plants. As for automation, the factory has realized an automation rate of 65%, largely improving the efficiency of flexible production. In terms of energy conservation and emissions reduction, as well as green production, the facility has made clear targets including plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10% and volatile organic compounds emissions by 50%. CATANIA, Sicily – Nissan and Sibeg, the bottler of products from the Coca-Cola Company in the Sicilian market, have accelerated the pace of sustainable mobility in Sicily. The two companies have formed an agreement to create an electric ecosystem consisting of vehicles and infrastructures. This signals the start of the second phase of the "Green Mobility Project" – which includes 110 new 100%-electric Nissan LEAFs used by Sibeg sales representatives and eight new fast-charging stations.For Nissan, the new ecosystem is an application of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the company's strategy to change how cars are driven, powered and integrated into society. Sibeg has partnered with ALD Automotive to provide all administrative and management services for the cars through its E-go Long-Term Rental proposal. Thanks to its strategic partnership with Enel X, the major long-term rental company offers integrated mobility services for the spread of zero-emission mobility.Through the cooperation with Nissan, Sibeg has expanded its infrastructure network across the entire island, which now counts a total of 68 charging stations. The eight new quick chargers, which let the sales force recharge from 20% to 80% in 40 to 60 minutes*, add to the previous 60 charging points installed by Sibeg in partnership with Enel. Seven of the existing 60 are fast-charging, thus giving new impetus to corporate as well as local e-mobility.The growing EV infrastructure in Italy will contribute towards the expansion of the electric car market. In 2017, there was a 135% rise in EV use in Sicily compared to the previous year – in part thanks to the recharging network improvements. In fact in 2015, when the project first began, there were only three charging stations installed in Sicily.The new Nissan LEAF electric vehicles replace previous ones already assigned to the Field Force back in 2015 during the first phase of the "Green Mobility Project." BANGKOK – Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd. recently sponsored 200 students in grades 10 and 11 from four secondary schools in Ayutthaya and Rayong, Thailand, to attend a hands-on three-day youth camp designed to build leadership skills that integrate STEM.The camp is part of the Youth Leadership program, a partnership between Nissan, CARE International Japan, and the Raks Thai Foundation that aims to help some 1,200 students develop leadership skills through teamwork, planning, and leader/follower activities. The students were divided into groups to work as a team, make plans and then role-play as a follower or a leader, and then present to the rest of the class. This will help these students apply what they have learned from these activities in future leadership and life situations. The program also brought STEM education to life at the camp and incorporated integrated STEM learning experiences through hands-on activities."In the past, the four components under STEM were taught separately, and students sometimes struggled to find the connections between these," said Sutirat Kojchasawad, Raks Thai's Program Officer. NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan topped three vehicle segments and finished in the top three in two others in the 2018 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS). J.D. Power IQS is the industry benchmark for new vehicle quality in the U.S. This year, the Nissan brand improved by eight problems per hundred vehicles (PP100) to an overall average of just 85 PP100, which was best performance of all non-luxury Japanese brands.The 2018 Nissan Frontier was the top-rated Midsize Pickup for the third consecutive year, while Maxima won Large Car honors with 57 PP100, the second highest score of any vehicle in the study. The popular Nissan Altima took top honors in the competitive Midsize Car segment with a 65 PP100 score, good for sixth among all vehicles in the survey and an 18-point improvement from the 2017 study.The all-new 100-percent electric Nissan LEAF was another bright spot among many for the brand, with a 17-point improvement in initial vehicle quality over the car's previous generation surveyed in 2017."Nissan's J.D.
